These Questions Can Help You Make Your Dreams Come True

Family with desirable goalsA few weeks ago I had a very good conversation with my friend, we were discussing our dreams in life. I really love this kind of conversation because I have so many dreams in life and I like to think about them and imagine my life when I have reached them.

What I found interesting in this conversation is how different my professional dreams were from my friend’s dreams. While I want to be a teacher and a business owner she wants to be a musician and we did not fancy each other’s dreams. My friend was wondering if she had the talent to be a successful musician and I told her that if we can dream it we can reach it.

I believe that if we want something we do have the right talent inside us to be successful in it, sometimes we just have to wake them up. My friend does have the talent within her to be a successful musician because she wants to be one. What about you? Do you know your real dream? Are you asking the right questions?

Asking ourselves good questions can be very helpful in realizing what our true dreams are and how we can reach them. By dream I do not mean wishful thinking but highly desirable goals.

Grab a pen and paper and write down your answers to the following questions or ask someone else to ask you these questions. You do not have to come up with a final decision, we can always change our dreams if we like to after learning something new. Now lets go a head and answer some questions regarding professions in life.

Know where you are going

If you don’t know where you want to go you can go in any direction. We need to know what our goals in life are, what our dreams are and our values. One of my favorite questions is:

If everything is possible, what would your professional life look like?

I recommend that you take a good time to reflect on this one and give yourself the permission to dream big and even bigger than that. Remember that everything is possible and when you follow your heart happiness will follow.

Know what it looks like

  • “What does a typical day in your life look like?”
  • “Who is around you?”
  • “What effect will that dream have on others?”
  • “What do you see in your environment?”

Know what you hear and smell

  • “What do you hear in your environment when you have reached your dream?”
  • “Do you say something to yourself?”
  • “What do you smell?”

Know what it feels like

  • “How do you feel when you have reached your goal?”
  • “Where is this feeling? Is it inside your body or outside it?”
  • “What is the color of this feeling?”
  • “What does this feeling feel like? Is it warm or cold, is it still or moving?”

These are examples of questions that can be helpful while we form our dreams and it also feels fantastic to experience those dreams in our mind. When we focus on our senses while dreaming our subconscious can assist us better with reaching our dreams.

Don’t wait for the perfect time to make your dream come true, the time will never be just right.

If you were waiting for a sign, this is it.

Now reflect on your previous answers and then the final question: What one little thing can you do this week to get closer to your dream?
